Getting from Antikythera to Tilos

If you are heading to Tilos from Antikythera you are making your way from one of the most remote islands in Greece to an island in the Dodecanese group, the first island in the Mediterranean to run entirely on renewable energy with good walking trails and a wild coastline.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Antikythera to Tilos. Antikythera's ferry connections are limited to Kythira, Piraeus, Kissamos in Crete and occasional ports on the southern Peloponnese. Getting to Tilos means taking the ferry from Antikythera to Kythira, flying to Athens and then flying to Rhodes or Kos, followed by the local ferry to Tilos. From Rhodes the ferry takes around 2 to 3 hours and from Kos around 2 hours.

Getting there by air

Tilos has no airport. The nearest airports are Rhodes and Kos. Antikythera has no airport, only a helipad. Taking the ferry from Antikythera to Kythira, flying to Athens and then Athens to Rhodes, followed by the local ferry from Rhodes to Tilos, gives a total journey time of around 6 to 7 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Antikythera to Kythira, fly to Athens and then fly to Rhodes and take the local ferry across to Tilos. Check the Rhodes to Tilos schedule before booking your flights as the service does not run daily. If you are traveling with a car, take the overnight ferry from Antikythera to Piraeus and board the overnight Piraeus to Tilos ferry, which takes your vehicle.
