Getting from Antipaxos to Alexandroupoli

If you are heading to Alexandroupoli from Antipaxos you are making your way from a tiny island in the Ionian Sea to the far northeastern corner of Greece, a city on the Thracian coast close to the Turkish border and the gateway to Samothrace.

Take the ferry

There are no scheduled ferries from Antipaxos to Alexandroupoli. Antipaxos has no ferry port of its own and is accessible only by sea taxi from Gaios on Paxos. Getting to Alexandroupoli means taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Igoumenitsa and then driving east across northern Greece via the Egnatia motorway to Alexandroupoli, which takes around 5.5 to 6 hours from Igoumenitsa. Getting there by air

Alexandroupoli has its own airport with connections from Athens and Thessaloniki. Antipaxos has no airport either. Taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu and flying to Thessaloniki and then Thessaloniki to Alexandroupoli avoids Athens entirely and gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

If you are planning to visit Samothrace, ferries depart daily in summer and take around 1 hour 45 minutes. If you are traveling with a car, take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, ferry to Igoumenitsa and drive east via the Egnatia motorway to Alexandroupoli.
