Getting from Antipaxos to Lefkada
If you are heading to Lefkada from Antipaxos you are making your way from a tiny island in the Ionian Sea to a neighbouring island in the same sea, connected to the mainland by a causeway. It has some of the finest beaches in Europe on its west coast with sheer white limestone cliffs dropping to turquoise water.
Take the ferry
There are no scheduled ferries from Antipaxos to Lefkada directly. Antipaxos has no ferry port of its own and is accessible only by sea taxi from Gaios on Paxos. Lefkada has no main ferry port as it is linked to the mainland by a floating bridge. Getting there means taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Igoumenitsa and then driving south to Lefkada, which takes around 1.5 to 2 hours from Igoumenitsa via Preveza. It is one of the most natural connections from Antipaxos given they are both Ionian islands.
Getting there by air
Lefkada has no airport. The nearest airport is Preveza, around 22 kilometres from Lefkada Town. Antipaxos has no airport either. Taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Igoumenitsa and driving south to Lefkada gives a total journey time of around 3 to 4 hours and avoids Athens entirely. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Igoumenitsa and drive south to Lefkada via Preveza. It is the most direct and natural approach and avoids Athens entirely. If you are traveling with a car this route is straightforward down the western Greek coast.
