Getting from Arki to Fournoi

If you are heading to Fournoi from Arki you are making your way from one of the smallest inhabited islands in the Dodecanese to a cluster of small fishing islands between Ikaria and Samos in the eastern Aegean, relatively close in regional terms. It has excellent seafood, quiet beaches and almost no tourist infrastructure.

Take the ferry

There is a seasonal direct ferry from Arki to Fournoi running in summer via the Dodekanisos Seaways network, which also connects to Samos. The service runs a limited number of times per week. Alternatively, take the ferry from Arki to Leros or Samos and then the local ferry to Fournoi, which takes under 1 hour from either island and runs daily in summer. This keeps the journey within the northeastern Aegean without going through Athens.

Getting there by air

Fournoi has no airport. The nearest airports are Samos and Ikaria, both with connections from Athens. Arki has no airport either. Taking the local ferry from Arki to Samos and then the local ferry to Fournoi keeps the journey entirely within the northeastern Aegean and avoids Athens entirely. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the local ferry from Arki to Samos and then the local ferry across to Fournoi. It is the most natural and direct connection and avoids Athens entirely. Check the schedule before planning as services from Arki run only a limited number of times per week. Give yourself at least two nights on Fournoi and come prepared as facilities on the island are limited.
