Getting from Arki to Leros

If you are heading to Leros from Arki you are making the most natural and frequent connection from the island, to one of the most atmospheric islands in the Dodecanese just a short distance away. It has a striking Art Deco Italian colonial port at Lakki and a medieval castle above the main town of Platanos.

Take the ferry

There is a direct ferry from Arki to Leros running almost daily in summer, taking around 1 hour. It is the primary connection from Arki to the wider world and the gateway to flights from Leros Airport. The service is operated by Dodekanisos Seaways and runs several times a week even in the low season. Arki is also connected to Leros via the Blue Star overnight ferry on its route through the Dodecanese.

Getting there by air

Leros has its own small airport with daily connections from Athens. Arki has no airport. The direct ferry to Leros is the most natural first step from the island and at around 1 hour it is one of the most effortless connections in the northern Dodecanese.

Your best option

Take the direct ferry from Arki to Leros. It is fast, relatively frequent and the most natural connection from the island. From Leros you can fly to Athens for onward connections, take the ferry south through the Dodecanese or simply enjoy one of the most characterful islands in the Aegean. Check the schedule before traveling as times vary by season. If you are traveling with a car, the conventional ferry takes your vehicle directly to Leros port.
