Getting from Arki to Lesvos

If you are heading to Lesvos from Arki you are making your way from one of the smallest inhabited islands in the Dodecanese to the third largest island in Greece, in the northeastern Aegean. It is the birthplace of Sappho, an island of olive groves, ouzo distilleries and a capital at Mytilini with a Byzantine castle and one of the most enjoyable waterfronts in the northern Aegean.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Arki to Lesvos. Arki is connected to Patmos, Leros, Lipsi, Kalymnos and occasionally Rhodes and Samos, with services running a limited number of times per week. Getting to Lesvos by sea means taking the ferry from Arki through the Dodecanese network to Piraeus and then boarding the overnight Piraeus to Lesvos ferry, which runs up to 8 times a week and takes around 10 to 14 hours. Flying is considerably more practical for most travelers.

Getting there by air

Lesvos has its own airport with daily connections from Athens. Arki has no airport either. Taking the local ferry from Arki to Leros, flying to Athens and then Athens to Lesvos gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the local ferry from Arki to Leros, fly to Athens and then fly to Lesvos. It is the fastest and most practical approach. Check the ferry schedule from Arki carefully before booking your flights as services run only a limited number of times per week. If you are traveling with a car, take the ferry from Arki through the Dodecanese network to Piraeus and board the overnight Piraeus to Lesvos ferry, which takes your vehicle and arrives in the morning.
