Getting from Arki to Patras

If you are heading to Patras from Arki you are making your way from one of the smallest inhabited islands in the Dodecanese to the third largest city in Greece on the southern shore of the Gulf of Corinth, the main gateway to the Ionian islands and western Europe.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Arki to Patras. Arki is connected to Patmos, Leros, Lipsi, Kalymnos and occasionally Rhodes and Samos, with services running a limited number of times per week. Getting to Patras means taking the ferry from Arki to Leros, flying to Athens and then taking the KTEL bus or driving west to Patras, which takes around 2 to 2.5 hours from Athens via the E65 motorway.

Getting there by air

Patras has a small seasonal airport at Araxos, around 40 kilometres from the city, operating limited flights from May to October only. The most practical approach is to take the ferry from Arki to Leros, fly to Athens and then take the KTEL bus or drive to Patras. Total journey time is around 5 to 6 hours.

Your best option

Take the local ferry from Arki to Leros, fly to Athens and take the KTEL bus or drive west to Patras. The bus from Athens Kifissos terminal runs frequently and takes around 2.5 to 3 hours. Check the ferry schedule from Arki carefully before booking your flights as services run only a limited number of times per week. If you are traveling with a car, take the ferry from Arki through the Dodecanese network to Piraeus and drive west to Patras via the E65 motorway.
