Getting from Arki to Piraeus

If you are heading to Piraeus from Arki you are making your way from one of the smallest inhabited islands in the Dodecanese to the largest port in Greece and the gateway to Athens and the wider ferry network.

Take the ferry

There is a direct overnight ferry from Arki to Piraeus running via the Blue Star route through the Dodecanese, taking around 10 to 14 hours with stops along the way through Patmos, Leros, Kalymnos, Kos and Rhodes. It is comfortable with cabins available and arrives in the morning. From Piraeus the metro takes around 20 minutes to central Athens. The faster alternative is to take the local ferry from Arki to Leros and fly from there.

Getting there by air

Piraeus has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens International, around 45 kilometres to the east. Arki has no airport either. Taking the local ferry from Arki to Leros, flying to Athens and then taking the metro or taxi to Piraeus, which takes around 20 to 45 minutes from Athens Airport, gives a total journey time of around 3 to 4 hours and is considerably faster than the direct ferry.

Your best option

Take the local ferry from Arki to Leros and fly to Athens, then take the metro directly to Piraeus. It is the fastest approach. If you are in no hurry or are traveling with a car, take the overnight Blue Star ferry from Arki through the Dodecanese network directly to Piraeus, which is comfortable and delivers you to the port in the morning ready to connect to the rest of the network.
