Getting from Astakos to Kylini

If you are heading to Kylini from Astakos you are making your way from a port town on the western coast of central Greece to another port town on the northwestern Peloponnese coast, relatively close in geographic terms. It has a long sandy beach and the medieval castle of Chlemoutsi nearby, one of the best preserved Frankish fortifications in Greece.

Drive from Astakos south to Kylini via Patras. At around 2 to 2.5 hours it is one of the most straightforward connections from Astakos and avoids Athens entirely. Kylini is the main departure point for ferries to Zakynthos and Kefalonia, making it a useful hub if you are continuing your journey into the Ionian islands. If you are traveling with a car the drive south is direct and the road is good.
