Getting from Chania to Athens

Take the ferry

There is a direct overnight ferry from Chania to Piraeus running every day throughout the year, departing from Souda port around 9pm and arriving in Piraeus in the early morning after around 8 to 9 hours. It is one of the most well established ferry connections in Greece and runs year-round with cabins available. From Piraeus the metro takes around 20 minutes to central Athens.

Getting there by air

Chania has an international airport with daily connections from Athens. The flight takes around 50 minutes and is the most practical approach for most travelers. Total journey time from airport to city centre is around 2 to 3 hours including transfer to Athens from the airport.
