Getting from Dokos to Tinos

If you are heading to Tinos from Dokos you are making your way from an uninhabited rocky island in the Saronic Gulf to an island in the central Cyclades with the most venerated pilgrimage church in Greece and a tradition of extraordinary marble craftsmanship in its interior villages.

Take the ferry

There are no scheduled ferries from Dokos. Dokos is accessible only by water taxi from Hydra, which takes around 30 minutes, or by private boat. Getting to Tinos means taking the water taxi from Dokos to Hydra, then the Saronic ferry from Hydra to Piraeus, which takes around 1 hour 5 minutes to 2 hours, and then either the Piraeus to Tinos ferry, which takes around 4.5 hours, or traveling to Rafina, around 25 kilometres from Athens Airport, for the ferry to Tinos which takes around 2 to 4 hours and runs up to 12 times daily in summer.

Getting there by air

Tinos has no airport. The nearest airport is Mykonos. Dokos has no airport either. Taking the water taxi from Dokos to Hydra, the Saronic ferry to Athens and then flying to Mykonos, followed by the short ferry from Mykonos to Tinos taking around 30 minutes, gives a total journey time of around 6 to 7 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the water taxi from Dokos to Hydra and the Saronic ferry to Piraeus, then board the Rafina ferry to Tinos. Rafina is a short taxi ride from Athens Airport and the ferry to Tinos runs frequently throughout the day in summer. Arrange your water taxi from Dokos in advance and build your schedule around the Hydra to Piraeus departure. If you are traveling with a car, note that Dokos is only accessible by small boat so a vehicle cannot be brought to or from the island.
