Getting from Donoussa to Anafi

If you are heading to Anafi from Donoussa you are making your way from one of the Small Cyclades to one of the most remote islands in the Cyclades, in the same island group. It has a monolithic rock rising 460 metres from the sea and almost no tourist infrastructure.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Donoussa to Anafi. Getting there means taking the ferry from Donoussa to Naxos, which runs 4 to 7 times a week and takes around 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes, and then connecting south through the Cyclades via Santorini to Anafi, which takes around 1 hour 15 minutes from Santorini and runs several times a week in summer. This keeps the journey entirely within the Cyclades and avoids going through Athens or Piraeus. Alternatively take the direct Donoussa to Piraeus ferry and then the Piraeus to Anafi ferry, which runs around 3 times a week and takes around 8 to 11 hours.

Getting there by air

Anafi has no airport. The nearest airport is Santorini. Donoussa has no airport. The nearest airport is Naxos. Taking the ferry from Donoussa to Naxos and connecting south through the Cyclades to Anafi via Santorini is considerably more practical than flying for this island hop within the same island group. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Take the ferry from Donoussa to Naxos and connect south through the Cyclades via Santorini to Anafi. It keeps the journey within the Cyclades and avoids Athens entirely. Check the schedules carefully before booking as the Donoussa to Naxos connection runs a limited number of times per week. Come with everything you need as Anafi has almost no facilities and that is entirely the point of going.
