Getting from Donoussa to Andros

If you are heading to Andros from Donoussa you are making your way from one of the Small Cyclades to the northernmost island in the Cyclades, in the same island group. It has neoclassical mansions, an art museum of genuinely international quality and a network of old footpaths connecting the villages.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Donoussa to Andros. Andros is served primarily from Rafina on the northeastern Attica coast. Getting there means taking the ferry from Donoussa to Naxos, which runs 4 to 7 times a week and takes around 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes, and then connecting north through the Cyclades towards Andros, or taking the direct Donoussa to Piraeus ferry and then traveling to Rafina, around 25 kilometres from Athens Airport, for the ferry to Andros taking around 1 to 2 hours with up to 11 daily departures in summer.

Getting there by air

Andros has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Donoussa has no airport. The nearest airport is Naxos. Taking the ferry from Donoussa to Piraeus and then taking a taxi to Rafina for the ferry to Andros gives a total journey time of around 10 to 12 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Donoussa to Piraeus and take a taxi to Rafina for the ferry across to Andros. Rafina is a short taxi ride from Athens Airport and avoids crossing the city to Piraeus entirely. Check the Donoussa to Piraeus departure days before planning as the service runs a limited number of times per week. If you are traveling with a car, take the ferry from Donoussa to Piraeus, drive to Rafina and take the ferry across to Andros.
