Getting from Donoussa to Koufonisia

If you are heading to Koufonisia from Donoussa you are making your way from one of the Small Cyclades to a neighbouring island in the same group, just a short distance to the west. It has some of the finest beaches in the Cyclades and a lively summer atmosphere that punches well above its size.

 

Take the ferry

There is a direct ferry from Donoussa to Koufonisia running on the Small Cyclades Lines route, taking around 1 hour 5 minutes and running 3 to 6 times a week. It is one of the most natural sea connections from Donoussa and keeps the journey entirely within the Small Cyclades without going through Athens or Piraeus. The Express Skopelitis also serves this route on an almost daily basis in summer making it one of the most reliable connections in the group.

 

Getting there by air

Koufonisia has no airport. The nearest airport is Naxos. Donoussa has no airport. The direct ferry connection is the only realistic option for this short island hop and at around 1 hour 5 minutes it is one of the most effortless connections within the Small Cyclades.

 

Your best option

Take the direct ferry from Donoussa to Koufonisia. It is the most natural and direct connection and keeps the journey entirely within the Small Cyclades. Check the schedule carefully before booking as departure days and times vary by season and between operators. Book ahead in summer as Koufonisia has very limited accommodation and the island fills up fast.
