Getting from Donoussa to Mykonos

If you are heading to Mykonos from Donoussa you are making your way from one of the Small Cyclades to the most cosmopolitan island in the Cyclades, a short distance to the northwest. It has a maze of whitewashed lanes above the port, long beaches on the south coast and some of the best beach clubs in Greece.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Donoussa to Mykonos. The most practical sea approach is to take the ferry from Donoussa to Naxos, which takes around 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes and runs 4 to 7 times a week, and then the ferry from Naxos to Mykonos, which runs daily and takes around 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes. Total journey time by sea is around 3 to 3.5 hours including the wait for the connection. Alternatively take the ferry from Donoussa to Paros and then connect to Mykonos from Paros.

Getting there by air

Mykonos has an international airport with daily connections from Athens. Donoussa has no airport. The nearest airport is Naxos. Flying from Donoussa involves taking the ferry to Naxos and then flying from Naxos to Athens and then Athens to Mykonos, which adds considerable time and makes the direct sea connection via Naxos far more practical for this short island hop.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Donoussa to Naxos and then the connecting ferry from Naxos to Mykonos. It is the most natural and direct approach and keeps the journey within the Cyclades entirely. Check the schedules carefully before booking as the Donoussa to Naxos connection runs a limited number of times per week and you will need to time your arrival in Naxos around the Mykonos departure.
