Getting from Donoussa to Pserimos

If you are heading to Pserimos from Donoussa you are making your way from one of the Small Cyclades to a tiny island wedged between Kos and Kalymnos in the Dodecanese group, on the opposite side of Greece. It has a single sandy beach, a handful of tavernas and accommodation that makes it worth staying overnight rather than just passing through on a day trip.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Donoussa to Pserimos. Pserimos is accessible only by local boat from Kalymnos, taking around 30 to 45 minutes. Getting there means taking the ferry from Donoussa to Piraeus, which runs around 3 to 6 times a week and takes around 7 to 8 hours, and then flying to Kos or Kalymnos, followed by the local boat across to Pserimos.

Getting there by air

Pserimos has no airport. The nearest airports are Kos and Kalymnos. Donoussa has no airport. The nearest airport is Naxos. Taking the ferry from Donoussa to Piraeus and flying from Athens to Kos, followed by the local boat to Pserimos, gives a total journey time of around 12 to 14 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Take the ferry from Donoussa to Piraeus and fly from Athens to Kos or Kalymnos, then take the local boat across to Pserimos. Check the Donoussa to Piraeus departure days before planning as the service runs a limited number of times per week. Check local schedules on arrival as the Pserimos service is not bookable online in advance. If you want to stay overnight rather than day trip, the local ferry from Kalymnos is the more reliable connection.
