Getting from Telendos to Arki
If you are heading to Arki from Telendos you are making your way from a tiny car-free island off the western coast of Kalymnos to one of the smallest inhabited islands in the Dodecanese, between Patmos and Lipsi, in the same island group. Arki has no cars, no proper roads and an atmosphere of complete isolation that makes Telendos feel busy by comparison.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Telendos to Arki. Getting there means taking the local boat from Telendos back to Myrties on Kalymnos, which takes around 5 minutes and runs every 30 minutes throughout the day, and then making your way to Kalymnos port at Pothia for the ferry to Arki. Dodekanisos Seaways runs this connection around twice a week taking around 2 hours, and SAOS Ferries runs it around 3 times a week taking around 3 to 4 hours. Combined with the transfer across Kalymnos from Myrties to Pothia, which takes around 20 to 30 minutes by taxi, the total journey from Telendos to Arki takes around 3 to 5 hours depending on which operator and departure day you choose.
Getting there by air
Arki has no airport. The nearest airports are Leros and Kos. Telendos has no airport. The nearest airport is Kalymnos. Flying is not a practical option for this short within-Dodecanese connection given the direct ferry link via Kalymnos.
Your best option
Take the local boat from Telendos to Myrties, transfer by taxi to Kalymnos port at Pothia and board the ferry to Arki. Check the schedule carefully before booking as the service runs only a few times a week and departure days vary between operators. Come entirely self-sufficient as Arki has almost no facilities and the isolation is the whole point of being there. Note that no cars are permitted on Arki itself, which makes the transition from car-free Telendos feel entirely natural.
