Getting from Telendos to Poros

If you are heading to Poros from Telendos you are making your way from a tiny car-free island off the western coast of Kalymnos in the Dodecanese to a small island in the Saronic Gulf, on the opposite side of Greece. Poros sits just 200 metres from the Peloponnese mainland and the narrow channel between them creates one of the most charming harbour settings in Greece.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Telendos to Poros. Getting there means taking the local boat from Telendos to Myrties on Kalymnos, which takes around 5 minutes, and then either flying from Kalymnos to Athens and taking the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Poros, which takes around 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes with several daily departures, or taking the overnight ferry from Kalymnos port at Pothia to Piraeus and boarding the Saronic ferry to Poros directly.

Getting there by air

Poros has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Telendos has no airport. The nearest airports are Kalymnos and Kos. Taking the local boat from Telendos to Myrties, flying from Kalymnos to Athens and then taking the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Poros gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the local boat from Telendos to Myrties and fly from Kalymnos to Athens, then take the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Poros. It is the most practical approach. If you are traveling with a car, note that no cars are permitted on Telendos so your vehicle would already be on Kalymnos, from where you can drive to Galatas on the eastern Peloponnese coast after arriving at Piraeus and take the short local ferry across to Poros, which takes only a few minutes and runs constantly throughout the day.
