Getting from Tilos to Paxos
If you are heading to Paxos from Tilos you are making your way from a volcanic island in the Dodecanese that runs entirely on renewable energy to a small island in the Ionian Sea, on the opposite side of Greece. Paxos has ancient olive groves, turquoise coves and a Venetian harbour at Gaios that is one of the most charming in Greece.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Tilos to Paxos. No Dodecanese island is connected by sea to any Ionian island. Tilos is connected by ferry to Rhodes, taking around 1 hour 10 minutes to 2 hours 45 minutes and running 4 to 7 days per week, and to Kos, taking around 1 hour 25 minutes and running 4 to 7 days per week. Getting to Paxos means taking the ferry from Tilos to Rhodes and flying from Rhodes to Athens, then flying to Corfu and taking the ferry from Corfu to Paxos, which takes around 1 hour 30 minutes. Alternatively take the ferry from Tilos to Piraeus via Rhodes and drive northwest to Igoumenitsa for the car ferry to Paxos.
Getting there by air
Paxos has no airport. The nearest airport is Corfu. Tilos has no airport. The nearest airport is Rhodes. Taking the ferry from Tilos to Rhodes, flying from Rhodes to Athens and then Athens to Corfu, followed by the ferry from Corfu to Paxos, gives a total journey time of around 7 to 8 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Take the ferry from Tilos to Rhodes and fly from Rhodes to Athens, then fly from Athens to Corfu and take the ferry across to Paxos. It is the most practical approach. Check the Tilos to Rhodes schedule before booking as departure days and times vary by season. Note that the Corfu to Paxos ferry does not carry vehicles so if you are traveling with a car, take the ferry from Tilos to Piraeus and drive northwest to Igoumenitsa for the car ferry to Paxos.
