Getting from Tinos to Milos

If you are heading to Milos from Tinos you are making your way from the most venerated pilgrimage island in the Cyclades to one of the most visually striking islands in the western Cyclades, in the same island group. It has a volcanic coastline of white and ochre rock formations and beaches that look like nowhere else in Greece.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Tinos to Milos. Getting there by sea means taking the ferry from Tinos to Piraeus, which runs daily and takes around 2.5 to 4.5 hours, and then boarding the Piraeus to Milos ferry, which runs several times daily in summer and takes around 2.5 to 3.5 hours on the fast boat. This is the most practical sea approach as there is no direct inter-island connection between the northern and western Cyclades that avoids Piraeus.

Getting there by air

Milos has its own small airport with connections from Athens. Tinos has no airport. The nearest airport is Mykonos. Taking the short ferry from Tinos to Mykonos, flying from Mykonos to Athens and then Athens to Milos takes around 40 to 45 minutes on the second leg. Total journey time is around 4 to 5 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the short ferry from Tinos to Mykonos and fly from Mykonos to Athens, then fly from Athens to Milos. It is the fastest and most practical approach. If you are traveling with a car, take the ferry from Tinos to Piraeus and board the conventional Piraeus to Milos ferry, which takes your vehicle directly to Adamas port.
