Getting from Tinos to Piraeus

If you are heading to Piraeus from Tinos you are making your way from the most venerated pilgrimage island in the Cyclades to the largest port in Greece and the gateway to Athens and the wider ferry network.

Take the ferry

There is a direct ferry from Tinos to Piraeus running daily, taking around 2.5 to 4.5 hours depending on the vessel. Blue Star Ferries runs the conventional crossing taking around 4.5 hours and Seajets runs the high speed service taking around 2.5 hours. It is one of the most well served Cyclades to Athens connections given Tinos's position on the main northern Cyclades route. From Piraeus the metro takes around 20 minutes to central Athens.

Getting there by air

Piraeus has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens International, around 45 kilometres to the east. Tinos has no airport. The nearest airport is Mykonos. Taking the short ferry from Tinos to Mykonos and flying from Mykonos to Athens and then taking the metro or taxi to Piraeus is an alternative but the direct ferry from Tinos is considerably more convenient for this connection.

Your best option

Take the direct ferry from Tinos to Piraeus. With daily departures it is the most natural and direct approach. Check the schedule before booking as departure times vary by season. If you are traveling with a car the conventional Blue Star ferry takes your vehicle directly to the port. From Piraeus the metro connects you directly to central Athens in around 20 minutes.
