Getting from Tinos to Tilos

If you are heading to Tilos from Tinos you are making your way from the most venerated pilgrimage island in the Cyclades to an island in the Dodecanese group, on the opposite side of the Aegean. It is the first island in the Mediterranean to run entirely on renewable energy with good walking trails and a wild coastline.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Tinos to Tilos. Getting there by sea means taking the ferry from Tinos to Piraeus, which runs daily and takes around 2.5 to 4.5 hours, and then boarding the overnight Piraeus to Tilos ferry. Alternatively take the short ferry from Tinos to Mykonos, fly from Mykonos to Athens and then Athens to Rhodes or Kos, followed by the local ferry to Tilos, which takes around 2 to 3 hours from Rhodes and around 2 hours from Kos.

Getting there by air

Tilos has no airport. The nearest airports are Rhodes and Kos. Tinos has no airport. The nearest airport is Mykonos. Taking the short ferry from Tinos to Mykonos, flying from Mykonos to Athens and then Athens to Rhodes, followed by the local ferry from Rhodes to Tilos, gives a total journey time of around 6 to 7 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the short ferry from Tinos to Mykonos and fly from Mykonos to Athens, then fly from Athens to Rhodes and take the local ferry across to Tilos. Check the Rhodes to Tilos schedule before booking your flights as the service does not run daily. If you are traveling with a car, take the ferry from Tinos to Piraeus and board the overnight Piraeus to Tilos ferry, which takes your vehicle.
