Getting from Zakynthos to Thessaloniki
If you are heading to Thessaloniki from Zakynthos you are making your way to the second largest city in Greece, in the north of the country.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Zakynthos to Thessaloniki. The two are not connected by sea. Getting there means taking the ferry from Zakynthos to Kyllini and then travelling by road or rail north to Thessaloniki, which takes around 5 to 6 hours from Athens.
Getting there by air
Both Zakynthos and Thessaloniki have airports. Direct flights connect the two cities twice daily, with the journey taking around 1 hour. This is the fastest and most practical approach by a significant margin.
Your best option
Fly direct from Zakynthos to Thessaloniki. It is one of the most convenient domestic connections in Greece and avoids Athens entirely. If you are travelling with a car, take the ferry from Zakynthos to Kyllini and drive north via the E65 motorway and E75 to Thessaloniki, which takes around 6 to 7 hours in total.
