Tony Kariotis: The Founder Behind GetGreece

Who is Tony Kariotis?
Tony Kariotis is a Greek American entrepreneur and content creator from Boston, Massachusetts. He is the founder of GetGreece, a company providing professional services, travel resources and cultural content for Greeks and friends of Greece around the world. He is also the creator behind @iamgreece and manages @greece, one of the most followed Greece-focused accounts on social media, along with several other Greece-focused pages covering news, humor and more.
How GetGreece Began
Growing up in Boston with Greek roots, Tony visited Greece frequently with family and friends, but the trips never seemed long enough.
Around 2016, he began asking himself how he could spend more time exploring Greece and eventually live there year-round instead of working in Boston. He started sharing photos and videos from his travels, and what began as a personal project called Greece Media eventually evolved into GetGreece.
Today, GetGreece helps clients around the world navigate matters in Greece, including Greek citizenship, property inheritance, taxes, residency and the Golden Visa. The company also publishes travel and cultural guides, produces the Greece Chats Podcast, organizes networking events, and operates GreekVines, a directory of Greek-owned businesses, alongside a worldwide directory of Greek events.
A Voice for Greece Online
With nearly one million followers across platforms, Tony has built a substantial online audience through @greece and his personal brand, @iamgreece, where he shares comedy sketches, travel content and behind-the-scenes stories.
In 2021, his comedy series Ep! Apagorevete went viral among audiences in Greece and throughout the Greek diaspora. He also produced the films Naked Santorini, Naked Naousa and Naked Sarakiniko, and published the book Naked Greece.
Over the years, Tony has traveled extensively throughout Greece, visiting more than 50 Greek islands. His family's roots trace back to Kalamata on his father's side and the island of Kalymnos on his mother's side.
Building Community
In 2023, Tony launched GetGreece's networking events, bringing Greeks, Greek Americans and friends of Greece together in cities across the United States.
The series has since expanded internationally, including a sold-out event in Athens in October 2026 that welcomed attendees from around the world.
Giving Back Through Sports
In 2009, less than a year after losing their father, Tony and his siblings established the Teddy Kariotis Foundation and the Teddy K Classic, an annual basketball tournament held in his memory.
Teddy Kariotis was a prominent figure in Boston's Greek Orthodox youth basketball community for more than 20 years. Beyond coaching, he helped shape and expand the league, introducing additional age divisions to give more children the opportunity to participate.
Today, the Teddy K Classic has grown into the largest Greek American basketball tournament in the country. Each spring, more than 30 teams from New England, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and beyond gather at Hellenic College, where Teddy's basketball legacy began. Proceeds support the Teddy Kariotis Scholarship, with 70 scholarships awarded since 2009.
For the past 20 years, Tony has served as head coach of his church's basketball program. He is the winningest coach in the Metropolis of Boston Basketball League's history, with more than 16 combined tournament and playoff championships and six Coach of the Year awards.
The Metropolis of Boston also honors his father, Teddy, by having Tony present the Metropolis of Boston Teddy Kariotis Coaches Award at its annual banquet.
For nearly a decade, until 2017, Tony also served as Youth Director at his local Greek Orthodox church.
Personal Life
Outside of GetGreece, Tony enjoys spending time with his wife and family, watching and playing sports, and keeping up with the latest developments in technology and financial markets.
