About the Beach
Agios Giannis Beach is a remote and strikingly beautiful pebbled shore on the western coast of Oinousses, named after the small white chapel that stands on the hillside above. It features a shore of smooth medium pebbles and exceptionally clear turquoise water that is deep and fresh, offering a sense of total isolation from the modern world. The beach is entirely unorganized and maintains a raw, pristine character, surrounded by a rugged and wild landscape where the maritime breeze is constant. It is a destination for nature lovers and adventurers who want to experience the North Aegean in its most natural form away from the busier port areas. The water is exceptionally clean and provides a high-quality environment for snorkeling along the rocky edges of the bay. There are no facilities or trees for natural shade, so you must be prepared with all your own water and supplies for the day. Access is via a winding road or by boat from the main harbor, which helps keep the atmosphere quiet and respectful. The entry into the water is via the stones and the depth increases relatively quickly. The atmosphere is quiet and reflects the untamed nature of the coast. It is a hidden gem.
