About the Beach

Apokofto Beach is a beautiful sandy beach on Sifnos, located right next to the iconic monastery of Chrysopigi. It features fine golden sand and turquoise water, with large tamarisk trees growing along the shore. The beach is unorganized but is served by two traditional tavernas that are famous for their local food and fresh fish. It is a destination for families and for those who want a scenic swim with a view of one of the island's most famous landmarks. The water is clear and cool, though there is a natural rock formation on parts of the seabed that requires careful entry. It is a social and friendly spot that remains relatively quiet compared to the larger resort beaches. The surrounding hills are low and rocky, providing a simple backdrop to the sea. You can easily walk to the monastery from the sand for a bit of exploration. The atmosphere is respectful and reflects the island's culture.
