About the Beach

Avlaki Beach is a remote and strikingly beautiful coastal spot on the southern coast of Nisyros, accessible via a steep path from the abandoned settlement of the same name. It features a shore of large black volcanic pebbles and deep blue water that is a shade of turquoise. The beach is entirely unorganized and maintains a raw, primeval character that reflects the volcanic nature of the island. There is no shade and the dark stones can become very hot under the sun. It is a destination for those who want to experience the silence and the geological power of the Dodecanese in total isolation. The water is exceptionally clean and provides a high-quality environment for a long swim. It is a spot for nature lovers who appreciate the connection between the sea and the volcanic history of the land. You must bring all your own water and food for the day. The entry into the water is via the stones and the depth increases quickly.
