Menies Beach is an isolated and wild coastal gem situated on the northeastern tip of the Rodopos Peninsula at the site of the ancient sanctuary of Diktynna featuring a landscape of small white pebbles and deep turquoise waters that are generally protected from the western winds in a primitive environment that requires a challenging twenty kilometer drive on a rugged dirt road or a boat trip from Platanias to reach providing a sense of absolute privacy and natural grandeur where the lack of any commercial facilities allows the raw beauty of the Cretan landscape and its archaeological heritage to remain entirely undisturbed as the steep rocky slopes of the peninsula descend sharply into a sea of remarkable clarity and silence.
