About the Beach
Paradise Beach is a spectacular and world-famous sandy shore on the eastern coast of Thassos, known for its fine white sand and its intense turquoise water that resembles the Caribbean. It features a wide stretch of sand and small dunes, surrounded by high green mountains and rocky cliffs that provide a dramatic and exotic backdrop for a swim. The beach is well-organized with many rows of sunbeds and umbrellas, and it features several beach bars and tavernas that offer a high-energy social environment for a diverse, international crowd. Because it faces the open sea, the beach is often subject to waves when the eastern winds are blowing, making it a favorite spot for body surfing and active water play. A small section at the edge of the bay is traditionally used by nudists, reflecting the island's spirit of freedom and natural living. The water is very shallow for a long distance and the entry is exceptionally easy and sandy for all swimmers, making it a safe and practical choice for families. Access is via a relatively steep dirt road from the main highway. The atmosphere is vibrant and reflects the modern spirit of the island tourism. It is a central part of the coast.
