About the Beach

Riva Beach is the main harbor and entry point for the island of Therasia, located directly across the caldera from the famous village of Oia on Santorini. It features a shore of dark volcanic pebbles and deep blue water, reflecting the intense geological history of the region. The beach is unorganized but is surrounded by several traditional tavernas that serve fresh local food to visitors arriving by boat. It is a destination for those who want to see what Santorini was like before the massive tourism boom, as Therasia maintains a much slower and more authentic pace of life. The water is clean and fresh, offering a unique perspective of the caldera cliffs from sea level. The entry into the sea is via the volcanic stones and the depth increases quickly.
