The Story of Pallas

Pallas was a son of the Titans Crius and Eurybia, and the brother of Astraeus and Perses. He was the Titan god of warcraft and battle. He married Styx, the goddess of the underworld river, who was a daughter of Oceanus and Tethys.

Pallas and Styx had four children, Nike, the goddess of victory, Kratos, meaning strength, Bia, meaning force, and Zelus, meaning rivalry or zeal. When Zeus called on the gods to join him against the Titans, Styx was the first to arrive, bringing her children. As a reward, Zeus made them his constant companions and made Styx the river by which the gods swore their most solemn oaths.

Little is known about Pallas himself, and he had no known worship. He is not the same as Pallas Athena, though in one later story a giant named Pallas was killed by Athena in the war against the Giants. The Greeks remembered the Titan Pallas mainly as the father of victory, strength and force.
