St. Agathopodos the Deacon Feast Day and Greek Name Day

St. Agathopodos the Deacon is honored in the Orthodox Christian Church as a Christian martyr who served the Church faithfully and gave his life for the Christian faith. His feast day is celebrated on April 8, and on this day people named Agathopodos and Agathopodi celebrate their Greek name day.

Who Was St. Agathopodos

St. Agathopodos lived during the early centuries of Christianity and served as a deacon in the Church of Thessaloniki. As a deacon, he assisted in church services and supported the work of the Christian community.

He served alongside St. Theodoulos the Reader, and the two were known for their dedication to the Christian faith.

Persecution and Martyrdom

During a period of persecution against Christians in the Roman Empire, St. Agathopodos and St. Theodoulos were arrested for openly practicing and teaching Christianity.

Despite pressure to renounce their beliefs, they remained faithful. According to Christian tradition, they were eventually martyred by drowning, becoming honored among the early Christian martyrs.

Greek Name Day for Agathopodos
