Athenaeum InterContinental Athens is at 89-93 Syngrou Avenue, with the Onassis Stegi arts centre a few minutes away on foot. The hotel has an outdoor pool, a spa and fitness centre, several restaurants and bars, and indoor parking, which makes it a practical base if you plan to mix sightseeing with trips to the Athenian Riviera or the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre, about 3 km away.
Rooms and suites
Classic Rooms (35 sq m) are spacious for a couple, and Premium Rooms (44 to 51 sq m) give you more room to unpack on a longer stay. One Bedroom Suites (35 to 74 sq m) add a separate living area, which helps if you are working during your trip or travelling with a child.
If you want to wake up to the Parthenon, book a Luxury Acropolis View Suite (69 to 110 sq m). Families or friends travelling together can take a Two Bedroom Suite (114 sq m), and the Presidential Suite covers 306 sq m. Family rooms and connecting rooms are available, and cribs can be added on request.
Outdoor pool and breakfast
The outdoor pool is surrounded by loungers and has a two-tier sun deck, with drinks and snacks served at Cafezoe Terrace, open from noon to 4pm. Check current pool opening times with the hotel. There is also a spa and a fitness centre for guests.
Breakfast is served from 6:30am to 11am at Cafezoe, the restaurant designed by Tony Chi, so early starts for sightseeing are easy. For a relaxed lunch or dinner, Artbistrot is open from noon to 11:30pm, and Artlounge serves drinks among the hotel's art collection, with signature cocktails inspired by the works on display. For a special evening, Première on the 10th floor serves Mediterranean cooking with Acropolis views from 7:30pm to midnight, Wednesday to Sunday, and Première Bar stays open from 6:30pm to 2am. Tobar is another option for a drink, and in-room dining is available 24 hours a day.
Location and getting around
On foot, the Onassis Stegi is about 270 m (4 minutes) and Neos Kosmos metro station (line 2) is about 830 m (11 minutes). Syngrou-Fix metro station is about 1.2 km (16 minutes), Akropoli station about 1.7 km (23 minutes) and the Acropolis Museum about 1.9 km (26 minutes). The Temple of Olympian Zeus is about 2.2 km (29 minutes), Plaka about 2.4 km (32 minutes) and Syntagma Square about 2.8 km (37 minutes), so for the old town the metro is the quicker option. Athens International Airport is about 36 km away.
Good to know
Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is by 11am, and the minimum check-in age is 18. Pets are not allowed, and the hotel is smoke-free. Indoor parking costs EUR 24 per day for registered guests.
