Athens Capital Hotel - MGallery Collection stands on Syntagma Square, at 4 Eleftheriou Venizelou Avenue and 2 Kriezotou Street, opposite the Parliament and about two minutes on foot from Syntagma metro station. Art runs through the building: Mappemonde, a work by Greek sculptor Georgios Lappas made of about 3,000 parts, starts on the 10th floor and runs down through the atrium. Guests can also join the hotel's Komboloi experience, making their own worry beads at a traditional workshop in the city and then sitting down to Greek meze back at the hotel.

Rooms and suites

Classic Rooms (25 sq m) have a queen bed and suit couples, with space for a child. Superior Rooms (27 sq m) come with a king bed or twin beds and city or courtyard views, and connecting and accessible rooms are available on request. Deluxe Rooms are 29 sq m with a king bed, and there is also a 27 sq m Deluxe Room with a private balcony over the city skyline.

For more space, Junior Suites (38 sq m) add a sitting area, and Deluxe Suites (42 sq m) take up to three guests. The Executive Suite, at about 60 sq m with a separate lounge area, sleeps up to four, so it works for families. The Presidential Suite (64 sq m) has a walk-in closet, a bathtub and a terrace looking towards Lycabettus Hill.

Rooftop pool and breakfast

Mappemonde, the rooftop restaurant, bar and lounge, sits beside an infinity pool with views from the Acropolis to Lycabettus Hill and down to the Saronic Gulf. It serves Mediterranean dishes, local and international snacks and signature cocktails such as The Spirit of Athens, made with mastiha, rum and Greek orange.

MFlavours is the main restaurant, serving Greek and Mediterranean cooking from an open kitchen. On the ground floor, Galerie Café is a busy meeting point for coffee, French crêpes and after-work cocktails among works of art. Breakfast runs daily from 6:30am to 11am, with hot and cold dishes made from local ingredients, and continental or American breakfast can be brought to your room. In-room dining also covers Greek, Mediterranean and international dishes later in the day. The fitness centre is on the 1st floor, and guests have free access to the wellness centre at Athens Capital Suites, about 50 m away.

Location and getting around

On foot, Syntagma metro station is about 160 m (2 minutes) and Syntagma Square about 230 m (3 minutes). Panepistimio station is about 500 m (7 minutes) and the Museum of Cycladic Art about 620 m (8 minutes). Plaka and the Lycabettus funicular are each about 900 m (12 minutes). The Temple of Olympian Zeus is about 1 km (14 minutes), Monastiraki station about 1.1 km (15 minutes), and the Acropolis Museum and the Panathenaic Stadium about 1.3 km (18 minutes). Athens International Airport is about 33 km away, and Piraeus port about 11 km.
