About Grand Hyatt Athens
Grand Hyatt Athens is on Syngrou Avenue, two minutes on foot from the Onassis Stegi arts centre and a short metro ride from the Acropolis and the old town. It is a hotel you can spend a whole day in: there are two rooftop pools, a courtyard garden with a third pool for families, a rooftop restaurant with Acropolis views, a lobby lounge and the Aegeo Spa.
Rooms and suites
Rooms start at 27 sq m and are furnished with walnut wood and marble, with rain showers in the bathrooms. Standard and Deluxe Rooms, with a king bed or twin beds, are a comfortable base for couples and friends. Some Deluxe Rooms face the Acropolis, and a few have their own plunge pool, which makes them a good pick for a special trip.
Families can book Premium family rooms with a king-size bed. For more space, Junior Suites add a seating area, and two of them come with a private pool. Grand Suites include versions with Acropolis views and with a private pool. At the top of the range are the Corner, Acropolis, two-level and Athena Nike Suites and a Penthouse with its own pool.
Rooftop pools and breakfast
On the 8th floor, an infinity pool looks towards the Acropolis, and a second rooftop pool has a wall of glass. Down in the courtyard garden, a third pool is set up for families, with a pool bar in the atrium. The Aegeo Spa has a heated indoor pool, a sauna, a steam room and treatments, and there is a fitness centre.
Breakfast is a buffet served up on the roof at The Grand, so you can start the day with the city spread out below you. Later on, the same restaurant on the 8th and 9th floors serves Greek and Mediterranean cooking with views of the Acropolis, and its 9th-floor cocktail bar is a natural spot for an evening drink. In the high-ceilinged lobby, the Aphrodite Lobby Lounge is open all day for coffee, light meals and drinks. Club-level guests also have access to the Grand Club Lounge.
Location and getting around
On foot, the Onassis Stegi is about 160 m (2 minutes) and Neos Kosmos metro station (line 2) is about 1.1 km (15 minutes). Syngrou-Fix metro station is about 1.5 km (20 minutes), Akropoli station about 2.1 km (28 minutes) and the Acropolis Museum about 2.2 km (29 minutes). Plaka is about 2.6 km (35 minutes) and Syntagma Square about 3.1 km (41 minutes), so the metro or a taxi is the easier way to reach the old town. The hotel can arrange airport transfers.
