Here is how to make a Greek Salad (Xoriatki Salata).

Greek Salad, or Xoriatiki Salata, also known as the Greek Village Salad is a timeless and refreshing dish known for its fresh, high-quality ingredients. Here's a simple recipe:

Ingredients:

  1. 4 ripe tomatoes

  2. 1 cucumber

  3. 1 green bell pepper

  4. 1 medium red onion

  5. 200g (about 7 ounces) of feta cheese

  6. A handful of Kalamata olives

  7. 3-4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

  8. 1-2 tablespoons of red wine vinegar

  9. Salt and dried oregano to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the vegetables: Cut the tomatoes into wedges, slice the cucumber, thinly slice the bell pepper and red onion.

  2. Assemble the salad: In a large bowl, combine the cut tomatoes, cucumber, bell pepper, and red onion. Add the Kalamata olives.

  3. Add the feta: Place a block of feta cheese on top of the vegetables.

  4. Season and dress the salad: Drizzle the olive oil and vinegar over the salad. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt and dried oregano.

  5. Serve: Do not toss the salad. The traditional Greek salad (Xoriatiki) is served with the ingredients layered and the feta cheese on top. Serve immediately.

Enjoy your homemade Greek Salad! This simple yet flavorful salad is the perfect complement to any meal or can be enjoyed on its own as a light lunch. Remember, the key to a good Greek Salad is using the freshest ingredients possible.
