how to make saganaki

Here is how to make Cheese Saganaki.

Ingredients:

  1. 200g (about 7 ounces) of Kefalotyri or Kasseri cheese (you can also use halloumi or feta if these are unavailable)

  2. Flour for dredging

  3. 2 tablespoons of olive oil

  4. 1 lemon

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the cheese: Cut the cheese into slices approximately 1 cm (about 1/2 inch) thick. Then, dredge the cheese slices lightly in flour, shaking off any excess.

  2. Cook the cheese: Heat the olive oil in a sagani or a small frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the cheese slices. Cook for about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.

  3. Serve: Squeeze lemon juice over the cheese, and serve immediately while still hot.

Enjoy your homemade Saganaki! This dish makes a fantastic appetizer and is perfect served with crusty bread or pita.
