How Many Days Should I Spend on Oinousses?

Oinousses fills a first day easily around the town, where neoclassical mansions built by the island's founding shipping families line the harbor. The Maritime Museum, housed in the historic Laimos family mansion, holds an incredible collection of ship models built by French prisoners during the Napoleonic Wars using bone and hair, and a long lunch at one of the harbor tavernas rounds out an easy first day well.

A second day belongs to the Monastery of the Annunciation, built in the 1960s in Byzantine style with icons by the noted painter Fotis Kontoglou, reached by a hike that gives sweeping views over the sea along the way.
