Is Corfu Expensive?

Corfu runs noticeably cheaper than Santorini or Mykonos, and it sits close to Rhodes and Crete in overall cost, making it one of the more approachable Ionian islands for travelers watching their budget.

Corfu offers a wide range of accommodation, from privately-run guesthouses and apartments to boutique hotels and full luxury resorts, and prices across that range tend to sit meaningfully below what a comparable stay would cost on Santorinior Mykonos. Small, family-run tavernas throughout the island serve Mediterranean and Corfiot dishes at reasonable prices, and portions tend to run generous, giving real value without paying a premium just for a sea view.

Most beaches across the island stay free to access, and bringing your own towel avoids the modest sunbed rental fee found at organized stretches of coast entirely. Public buses connect Corfu Town to the island's beaches and villages affordably, and renting a scooter or splitting a car rental between two or more travelers keeps transport costs reasonable for anyone wanting more flexibility.

Corfu Town itself carries a slightly higher cost than the rest of the island, since cafes along the Liston, the city's historic arcaded promenade, charge more than a typical village kafeneio, though wandering a street or two back brings prices down without losing much atmosphere.

Visiting during late May, June, or September brings real savings on both accommodation and car rental compared to the peak weeks of July and August, when prices across the island climb noticeably alongside demand.

Corfu suits travelers wanting real history, beaches, and Mediterranean food without Santorini or Mykonos-level spending, running close in cost to Rhodes or Crete, and Corfu's cost of living stays reasonable overall for anyone weighing accommodation, food, and transport before booking.
