Getting around costs little, since the municipal bus connects Pothia to the climbing sectors, western villages, and coastal resorts affordably, and scooter rentals give a cheaper alternative to a car for anyone traveling alone or in pairs.

The crossing to Telendos, a short shuttle boat ride from Myrties, ranks among the best value experiences in Greece, giving access to quiet beaches like Hohlakas for barely more than the cost of a coffee.

Kalymnos has its own small airport, and ferries connect through Kos for anyone flying into a larger hub first. It suits budget-conscious travelers wanting a real island with climbing, sponge-diving heritage, and genuine local character, and Kalymnos's cost of living stays reasonable across nearly every everyday category.
