The water taxi crossing from Myrties on Kalymnos runs inexpensively and departs roughly every half hour, making the ten minute trip an easy, low-cost way to reach the island for a day or an overnight stay. Since Telendos has no roads beyond its short paved promenade, there's no transport to budget for once you've arrived, and everything worth seeing, the ruins of ancient Pothaia, the climb to Agios Konstantinos, or a swim at Potha, sits within walking distance.

Kalymnos itself ranks among the more affordable Greek islands overall, and basing there while making day trips or an overnight stop on Telendos gives travelers access to a wider range of accommodation and dining without losing the appeal of Telendos's quieter pace.
