Where Should I Stay on Kastellorizo?

Kastellorizo keeps the decision fairly simple, since nearly all of the island's small collection of hotels sits directly on or just off the main harbor.

Kastellorizo's harbor front, right in the town of Megisti, puts pastel neoclassical mansions, restaurants, and the main square within a short walk of nearly every property. It suits most visitors, since the harbor itself functions as the island's real center, and swimming directly off the rocks near several hotels means the water is never far from where you're staying.

A handful of properties sit a bit further along the bay, away from the busiest stretch of restaurants, giving a quieter setting with private swimming access and the same harbor views without the foot traffic passing right outside. This suits travelers wanting a calmer base while staying close enough to walk into town for dinner.

Given how small Kastellorizo is, nearly everything, the Lycian rock tomb, the Knights' castle, and the departure point for Blue Cave boat trips, sits within easy walking distance regardless of which end of the harbor a stay lands on.

Once a base is decided, hotels and places to stay on Kastellorizo span the main harbor and the quieter stretch along the bay, and booking ahead matters given how limited the island's rooms are.

Kastellorizo connects by ferry through Rhodes or by direct flight from Athens, so it's worth taking time to check ferry schedules and book tickets ahead of a summer visit. The main harbor suits most travelers wanting to be close to everything, while the quieter stretch along the bay suits anyone wanting the same views with a calmer pace.
