Getting from Aegina to Piraeus

If you are heading to Piraeus from Aegina you are making your way to the largest port in Greece and the gateway to Athens and the wider ferry network, from where the metro takes around 20 minutes to central Athens.

Take the ferry

The Aegina to Piraeus ferry is one of the most frequent routes in Greece, with over 40 daily departures in summer and regular year-round service. The fast catamaran takes as little as 30 to 40 minutes. Conventional ferries take around 1 hour to 1 hour 25 minutes. Most ferries depart from Aegina Town with seasonal departures also from Agia Marina and Souvala. Ferries arrive at Gate E8 in Piraeus, a short walk from the metro station.

Getting there by air

Aegina has no airport. The ferry is the only option and at under 45 minutes on the fast boat it is one of the most effortless connections in Greece.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Aegina to Piraeus. With over 40 daily departures in summer you can turn up at the port, buy a ticket and be in Piraeus within the hour. From Piraeus the metro connects you directly to central Athens. If you are travelling with a car, the conventional ferry takes your vehicle directly to Piraeus.
