Getting from Agathonisi to Athens

If you are heading to Athens from Agathonisi you are making your way to the capital of Greece.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Agathonisi to Athens. The most practical ferry approach is to take the local ferry from Agathonisi to Samos or Leros, which runs 3 to 4 times a week, and then take the long Piraeus ferry from Samos, which takes around 8 to 13 hours. Flying is considerably more practical for most travelers. If you are traveling with a car, the overnight Piraeus ferry from Samos is the practical choice as it takes your vehicle directly to Athens.

Getting there by air

Agathonisi has no airport. The nearest airports are Samos and Leros, both of which have daily connections from Athens. Taking the local ferry from Agathonisi to Samos or Leros and then flying to Athens takes around 50 minutes in the air. Total journey time is around 3 to 5 hours depending on ferry connections and flight timings.

Take the local ferry from Agathonisi to Samos or Leros and fly to Athens. It is the fastest and most practical approach. Build flexibility into your departure day as the ferry from Agathonisi runs only a few times a week and your travel dates need to align with the available departures.
