Getting from Agathonisi to Milos

If you are heading to Milos from Agathonisi you are making your way from the northern Dodecanese group to one of the most visually striking islands in the Cyclades, on the opposite side of the Aegean. It has a volcanic coastline of white and ochre rock formations and beaches that look like nowhere else in Greece.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Agathonisi to Milos. Getting there means taking the local ferry from Agathonisi to Leros or Samos, flying to Athens and then taking the Piraeus to Milos ferry, which takes around 2.5 to 3.5 hours on the fast boat with multiple daily departures in summer.

Getting there by air

Milos has its own small airport with connections from Athens. Taking the local ferry from Agathonisi to Leros or Samos, flying to Athens and then Athens to Milos, gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the local ferry from Agathonisi to Leros or Samos, fly to Athens and either fly on to Milos or take the ferry from Piraeus. The flight from Athens to Milos takes only 40 minutes and is the faster option. If you are travelling with a car, fly to Athens and take the conventional ferry from Piraeus to Milos, which takes your vehicle directly to Adamas port.
