Getting from Agathonisi to Serifos

If you are heading to Serifos from Agathonisi you are making your way from the northern Dodecanese group to an island in the western Cyclades, on the opposite side of the Aegean. It has a Chora that climbs a steep hill above the port in a way that looks almost impossibly dramatic from the water.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Agathonisi to Serifos. Getting there means taking the local ferry from Agathonisi to Leros or Samos, flying to Athens and then taking the Piraeus to Serifos ferry, which takes around 2 to 3 hours on the fast boat with multiple daily departures in summer.

Getting there by air

Serifos has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Taking the local ferry from Agathonisi to Leros or Samos, flying to Athens and then taking the ferry from Piraeus to Serifos gives a total journey time of around 6 to 7 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the local ferry from Agathonisi to Leros or Samos, fly to Athens and take the ferry from Piraeus to Serifos. At around 2 to 3 hours on the fast boat the Piraeus to Serifos connection is one of the more manageable Cyclades crossings. If you are travelling with a car, the conventional ferry from Piraeus takes your vehicle directly to Livadi port.
