Getting from Agistri to Agathonisi

If you are heading to Agathonisi from Agistri you are making your way from a small pine-covered island in the Saronic Gulf to one of the most remote islands in the Dodecanese group, on the opposite side of Greece. Agathonisi has almost no tourist infrastructure and an atmosphere of complete isolation.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Agistri to Agathonisi. Getting there means taking the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus, which takes around 55 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Leros or Samos, followed by the local ferry to Agathonisi, which runs 3 to 5 times a week and takes around 1 to 2 hours.

Getting there by air

Agathonisi has no airport. The nearest airports are Leros and Samos. Taking the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Leros or Samos, followed by the local ferry to Agathonisi, gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
