Getting from Agistri to Lesvos

If you are heading to Lesvos from Agistri you are making your way from a small pine-covered island in the Saronic Gulf to the third largest island in Greece, in the northeastern Aegean. It is the birthplace of Sappho, an island of olive groves, ouzo distilleries and a capital at Mytilini with a Byzantine castle and one of the most enjoyable waterfronts in the northern Aegean.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Agistri to Lesvos. The most practical ferry approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus, which takes around 55 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes, and then board the overnight Piraeus to Lesvos ferry, which runs up to 8 times a week and takes around 10 to 14 hours depending on the route. It is a long overnight journey but comfortable with cabins available.

Getting there by air

Lesvos has its own airport with daily connections from Athens. Taking the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Lesvos takes around 1 hour in the air. Total travel time is around 4 to 5 hours and is the most practical approach for most travelers.

Your best option

Take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus and fly to Lesvos via Athens. It is the fastest and most practical approach. If you are traveling with a car, take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus and board the overnight Piraeus to Lesvos ferry, which takes your vehicle and arrives in the morning.
