Getting from Agistri to Lefkada

If you are heading to Lefkada from Agistri you are making your way from a small pine-covered island in the Saronic Gulf to an island in the Ionian Sea connected to the mainland by a causeway, on the opposite side of Greece. It has some of the finest beaches in Europe on its west coast with sheer white limestone cliffs dropping to turquoise water.

Take the ferry

There is no ferry from Agistri to Lefkada. Lefkada has no main ferry port connecting it to Athens or the Saronic Gulf as it is linked to the mainland by a floating bridge. Getting there means taking the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus, which takes around 55 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes, and then driving or taking the KTEL bus northwest to Lefkada, which takes around 5 hours from Athens.

Getting there by air

Lefkada has no airport. The nearest airport is Preveza, around 22 kilometres from Lefkada Town, but it has no domestic connection from Athens. The most practical approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus and then take the KTEL bus directly to Lefkada, which runs four times daily from Athens Kifissos terminal and takes around 5 hours 15 minutes.

Your best option

Take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus and take the KTEL bus or drive northwest to Lefkada. It is the most direct approach. If you are traveling with a car, the ferry from Agistri already puts you at Piraeus with your vehicle, then drive northwest via the E65 motorway to Lefkada, which takes around 5 hours from Athens.
