Getting from Alonissos to Alexandroupoli

If you are heading to Alexandroupoli from Alonissos you are making your way from the most remote of the Sporades group to the far northeastern corner of Greece, a city on the Thracian coast close to the Turkish border and the gateway to Samothrace.

There is no direct ferry from Alonissos to Alexandroupoli. Getting there by air

Take the ferry from Alonissos to Skiathos and fly to Alexandroupoli via Thessaloniki. It is the most practical approach and avoids Athens entirely. If you are traveling with a car, take the ferry from Alonissos to Volos and drive northeast via Thessaloniki and the Egnatia motorway to Alexandroupoli, which takes around 8 to 9 hours in total.
